Your car needs to be maintained regularly so that it operates as it should. One of the biggest causes of accidents on our roads are cars that have been neglected by their owners.
A car that has not been looked after will not run optimally, will be inefficient and could very well cause a serious accident.
It is more often than not the small problems that get left unattended that quickly develop into large problems that could cause major damage.
Most new cars come with schedules which will tell the owner when the car is due for servicing and MOT. It is recommended that oil be changed every four months and the brake fluid, radiator coolant and power steering fluid should also be checked every few months.
Many of the safety features of your vehicle will be checked at your annual MOT test. This is also when an emissions test is conducted to be sure that your car is not expelling too many dangerous fumes into the environment. Although many drivers complain about having to go through the MOT process every year it is done for the safety of everyone who travels the roads in the UK.
If you plan on selling your car in the future, keep in mind that you will get a lot more money for it if you have maintained it and taken it in to be serviced on a regular basis. Be sure to update the log any time you have had some work done on your car. Prospective buyers will be much more confident in buying your car if you provide them with a very comprehensive report regarding what repairs and general maintenance that has been done. This also sends the message that you are a car owner who took very good car of the vehicle.
